In 2015, Columbus, Ohio based solo act Will Deely recruited guitarist Chris Heidel, drummer Alex Giles, and bassist Casey Costello to perform his acoustic EP, What Keeps You Warm, live as a full band. What began as a solo act quickly evolved into a full band collaborative song writing effort, and the band decided to proceed under the name Heavy Things. Their first album, Goner, was released in 2017 and featured both new songs, and songs from the acoustic EP reworked into a full band format.
In 2018, Heavy Things released their second full-length album, Glimpse, in anticipation of a full US tour in support of Hawthorne Heights. Heavy Things can best be described as a nostalgic emo/pop-rock group, reminiscent of both 90s radio rock and early 2000s pop punk.
